Silab Launches Aquasebom

Silab's new Aquasebom is a hydra-matte, natural active ingredient which improves hydration, tightens pores and reduces shine in skin, particularly Asian skin. The material debuted this week at Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients in Shanghai.


Aquasebom is a natural active ingredient obtained from the silk-cotton tree, a symbiotic plant used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Developed according to an eco-design approach, Aquasebom is a patented, active ingredient said to be rich in oligosaccharides. The active, INCI: Bombax malabaricum flower extract, is available in aqueous solution, recommended use levels of 0.5-2.5%. It is compliant with international cosmetic regulations in Europe, US, Japan and China.


Tested at 2.5% on Chinese skin, Aquasebom improves skin hydration and reinforces its anti-seborrheic properties. In a 28-day study of twice daily application, Aquasebom increased hydration levels (+46%) and reduced the desquamation index (-10%). Furthermore, Aquasebom decreased sebum (-9.1%), reduced shininess (-36%) and significantly tightened pores (-36%).
